The Stover Barn at Tinicum Park in Bucks County, PA, is one of my new favorites to paint. I love the way the trees have grown up right around the old but well-preserved structures. Since barns are usually in open fields, it’s kind of unique to find one tucked in the woods like this. Early Spring was a great time to capture the scene, with lots of light coming through the barely-there baby foliage. With sketching and one false start included, I returned three times before I finished this painting — it was fun to watch the leaves green up over the week or so between visits.
