Grist Mill Pond

Copyright 2015 Erin Pryor Gill Today was a gorgeous day to sit by the historic Grist Mill pond and paint. I love this season, when the first chartreuse greens are just starting to show, and the tree tips are red with new buds.

I was interrupted by a surprising source — after many fire engines and police cars whizzed by on the road into town, an officer stopped and told me I would have to move, as there was a huge brush fire down the road and a helicopter was going to pick up water from the pond.  After I was all packed up and ready to go, a call came over the radio that the helicopter was standing down, and I was given the all-clear to return to painting.  Thankfully it looks like they were able to get the fire under control without any injuries or damage to homes.
