There’s a spot by the Lower Macungie Library where I have painted once before. That painting didn’t really turn out, but the place was a comfortable one — public ground, with enough foot traffic nearby to feel very safe (but not so much that I felt in the way), easy parking and bathrooms, and a view with a neat old barn. So I returned and had another go at the scene, with my current favorite technique of starting in watercolor and finishing in pastel. Some old farm equipment and a few cars were parked in front of the barn — I edited out the machinery to simplify the composition, and a considerate man saw me painting and moved the cars out of the way!
